1. Last date for receiving Nominations is May 20, 2009.

2. The Office Bearers of other Nurses Associations or Unions are not eligible to contest unless they resign from their offices.

3. Returning Officer and Ex-officio members are not eligible to contest for election.

4. Both nominee and nominator must be a Life Member of TNAI.

5. All nominations shall be made from among the members of the concerned State/UT Branch. The nomination for the President and Secretary shall be made only from those who have served for one term of four years as the EC members/office bearers of the concerned State/UT Branch.

6. As per clause 11 (a) TNAI Rules and Regulations “…No Council member/office bearer co-opted shall serve more than two consecutive terms (8 Years) a break after two consecutive terms shall be for a period not less than four years. (Especially for the office of branch President and Secretary). However, they can contest any other office in the state branch provided the state branch constitution has a provision.

7. Clause 11.I (i) of TNAI Byelaws. For the office of President and Vice-President (s), all nominations shall be included in the ballot paper. For other offices the names of three members who receive the highest number of nominations or at least obtain five nominations shall be included in the ballot paper.

8. Contestants declaration about their consent and/or withdrawal for standing for election, choice of the one office position only and of their non-involvement in any litigation with Association or facing disciplinary proceedings or litigation in their work situation should reach the Returning Officer at the address given below positively by May 20, 2009.

Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Nursing Institute, Amravati (MS): Lamp lighting ceremony of the 2008-09 batch of Basic B.Sc (N) and RANM students was organised at MD Hall of the Institute on 25 November 2008. The function was graced by President/ Vice President of Shri Shivaji Education Society, Chief Guest and Speaker Sr Vinaya Anne’s Principal Kasturba College of Nursing, Sevagram, District Wardha, who passed on the lighted lamp and addressed the students.

Institute’s Principal, Smt Prema Gawai explained the importance of Florence Nightingale pledge. The programme was conducted in collaboration with SNA unit.

Advertisers of the Admission Notices in NJI for the academic year 2009-2010 for Schools / Colleges of Nursing are required to submit the copy of the Indian Nursing Council (INC) recognition certificate alongwith the advertisement and payment, otherwise the advertisement shall be summarily rejected.


Vinayaka Mission’s College of Nursing, Puducherry : Lamp lighting ceremony was held on 27 December 2008. The programme began by lighting of the Kutthuvillaku by Prof. P Sarojini, Joint Director of Medical Education (Nursing) Govt of Tamilnadu, who was the guest of honour.

The welcome address was given by Prof M Arulselvi, Vice Principal. The dignitaries led the traditional lamp. The President of the function, Dr. Sumathikumaraswami, Dean, read the Florence Nightingale pledge. The chief guest Shri S Basker, General Manager, Vinayaka Missions University, Chennai gave the presidential address. Dr Dhanasekar, Dean, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital, Puducherry felicitated the freshers and retold the services rendered by Florence Nightingale at Crimean war.

Ms Rajeshwari, Senior Nsg Suptdt, Indira Gandhi Govt General Hospital, Puducherry and Prof Mrs Kamalam, Principal, Kasturba Gandhi College of Nursing, Puducherry gave a special message to students. The programme ended with the national anthem.
