
PPG College of Nursing, Coimbatore (TN):
The Harangue (Workshop) on Clinical Resource Management
was organised by the Management, Principal, Staff
and students of the College on 4 December 2009 in
which about 250 students and staff members participated.
The workshop was conducted with an aim of developing
skills and bringing out potential of individuals.
The resource persons of the workshop were Prof William,
Prof Alagarsamy, Prof MK Suja, Prof AP Senthilkumar
and Prof Jaya Padma. Prof P Muthulakshmi, Principal,
PPG CON welcomed the gathering. Presidential address
was given by the Chairman of PPG Group of Institutions
Dr LP Thangavelu. All the resource persons were
honoured by the management. There were sessions
on leadership and its importance in an organisation,
programme evaluation, managing conflict in nursing
practice, performance appraisal and recruitment
in human resources. After the sessions, students
enthusiastically clarified their doubts. The workshop
ended with the valedictory function and certificates
were issued to all participants. |

Vidya Shikshan Prasarak Mangal’s Madhuribai
Deshmukh Institute of Nursing Education and College
of Nursing & Research Centre, Nagpur (MS):
Lamp lighting ceremony of the 15th batch of GNM
students and 5th batch of Basic BSc Nursing students
was held on 4 November 2009. Hon’ble Secretary Mr
PK Banerjee, VSPM Academy of Higher Education, Nagpur,
was the chief guest. Dr Dasgupta, Dean NKP Salve
Institute of Medical Sciences and RC was the guest
of honour. Welcome address was given by Mrs Lata
Sukare, Lecturer, VSPM CON & Research Centre. The
Chief guest lighted the lamp accompanied by Dean,
Principals, Nursing Suptdt and Admn Officer. The
distribution of lighted lamps to the freshers was
done by Mrs K Thangvel, Principal, MDINE, Mrs K
Talwekar, Principal, VSPM CON & RC, Mrs A Johny,
Vice Principal, DMINE and Mrs Singh, Nsg Suptdt,
LMH, Nagpur. Mrs Hemlata Salve, Lecturer CON led
the Nurses Pledge. The programme was conducted by
Mrs Susanne John, Asso Prof, CON and Mrs Anugrah
Datta, Nsg Tutor. The function concluded with the
vote of thanks proposed by Mrs Alka Tajne, Nsg Tutor,
MDINE. Dr Mangala Deshpande, Director, VSPM Physiotherapy
College, Dr Pandey, MS, Lata Mangeshkar Hopistal,
Mr R Kherde, HR Manager, Mr Arun Khode, Admn Officer,
Mrs Singh, Nsg Suptdt, Lata Mangeshkar Hospital,
HODs, Staff, students and parents were present to
grace the occasion.

PPG College of Nursing, Coimbatore (TN)
: Lamp lighting programme was organised for the
12th batch of BSc Nursing students on 5 December
2009. The programme started with the procession
by the students followed by the prayer song. Prof
P Muthulakshmi, Principal welcomed the gathering.
Chief guest Dr G Josephine R Little Flower, Registrar,
Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council inaugurated
the function by lighting the traditional lamp. The
lamp lit by the chief guest was received by 100
first year BSc Nursing students. Class coordinator,
Prof B Lavanya administered the Nightingale Pledge.
Presidential address was given by the Managing Director,
Dr LP Thangavelu, MS, FICS, FAIS, Chairman of PPG
Group of Institutions, Coimbatore. At this occasion,
special invitees, Dr T Manonmani, Medical Administrative
Officer, Ganga Hospital and Mrs Geetha, Registrar
Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai wished
the students. Felicitations were given by Mrs Shanthi
Thangavelu, Correspondent, PPG Group of Institutions,
Coimbatore. The programme concluded with the vote
of thanks by Prof B Rajalakshmi. |

Bishop Benziger College of Nursing, Kollam
(Kerala) : The VI lamp lighting ceremony
was celebrated on 20 November 2009 at the College
Nursing Auditorium. The programme was inaugurated
by Sri PK Gurudasan, Hon’ble Minister for Labour
and Excise, Govt of Kerala, in the presence of His
Lordship Rt Rev Dr Stanley Roman, Bishop of Quilon.
In this function lamp was passed on to the nursing
students by Prof TS Ravikumar, HOD Accident & Emergency
Nursing, CMC Vellore. Other dignitaries gracing
the function included Rt Rev Msgr Ferdinanad Peter,
Director Rt Rev Msgr David Kandathil, Manager, Prof
Mini George, Principal Bishop Benziger College of
