Eashwari Bai Memorial College of Nursing, West Marredpally, Secunderabad (AP): The first batch MSc (Nursing) students organised a workshop on “Theory Application into Nursing Practice” at the college Auditorium on 10- 11July 2009. At the Inaugural session theme of workshop was unfolded by Mrs Hemalatha Sarojini, Principal, and Chief Guest Dr Ramachandra Reddy. Vice-chairperson, greeted the delegates and highlighted the application of nursing theories in clinical practice for improved quality care to the clients and the importance of in-service education. Later, scientific sessions were conducted on Importance, Concepts and Evolution of theory, Guidelines for theory development, Application of theory in Nursing education, Administration, Management, Research and Bridging gap between theory and practice. There workshop was attended by 100 delegates. Valedictory function proceeded by workshop report presented by Mrs Prasanna Kumari, Programme Coordinator. Certificates and mementoes by Mr Sudhir Reddy, Administrator, Geeta Multi Speciality Hospital. The programme ended with the national anthem.

Venkateswara Nursing College, Thalambur, Chennai:CNE programme was organised in collaboration with TN Dr MGR Medical University on Teaching Strategies & Methods in Nursing on 24 June 2009. In the inaugural, the chief guest Dr Sudha Seshayyan, Registrar I/c, TN Dr MGR Med Univ stressed on the value of nursing profession and development of communication skills in teaching. Dr Ishari K Ganesh, chairman-founder, Chancellor Vel’s University offered to host a national conference in the college.Dr Mangala Gowri-MMC, Prof Ambika Ravindran-MAC, Prof Hema Sudhakar-Sharmila, Prof Lakshmi - Chettinad CON, Prof Kamala Subbian – Principals and Prof Irin Praveen - VP, VNC expressed their views on teaching methods and techniques.

Valluvanad School of Nursing, Ottapalam, Kerala : The lamp lighting ceremony (IXth batch) and Graduation ceremony (Vth batch) of GNM students was held on 26 March 2009. The programme was presided by Sri KP Ramarajan (Municipal Chairman, Ottapalam). Other Chief guests, Smt Subaida Izahaek (District Panchayath President, Palakkad), Dr PR Karunakaran (District Medical Officer, Palakkad), Sri KV Ramakrishnan (Ex District Panchayath president), Smt Shiji KN (Municipal Councillor, Ottapalam), Sri KB Soman (Secretary, Palakkad District Hospital Employees’ Sangh), Dr M Ramakrishnan (Chairman, Valluvanad Hospital), Dr A Krishnankutty (Medical Suptdt, Valluvanad Hospital), Smt C Parukutty (Principal, School of Nursing, Valluvanad), Smt C Sunitha (Nursing Tutor, Valluvanad School of Nursing), Smt TP Indiradevi (Nursing Suptdt, Valluvanad Hospital), all staff, students, parents of IXth & Vth batch GNM, were present to bless the occasion. Sri KP Ramarajan emphasised the importance of being a nurse in his presidential address. Welcome speech was given by Smt C Parukutty. Smt Subaida Izahaek inaugurated the function and the newly joined nursing students of IXth batch stepped into the nursing profession by lighting the lamp and took oath given by Smt TP Indiradevi. The graduation certificates were given to Vth batch students by Dr PR Karunakaran. Prizes for academic performance & extracurricular activities were given by Dr A Krishnankutty. After many cultural events, the function concluded with the vote of thanks given by Linto Antony (Nursing Tutor, Valluvanad School of Nursing).

Narayana Nakshathra Teja’s Galaxy 2009: The Narayana Nursing Institution celebrated Narayana Nakshathra Teja’s Galaxy, a triplet function of lamp lighting and capping function, fresher’s day and college day on 23 Feb 2009. The chief guest was Hon’ble Sri M Venkaiah Naidu Garu, MP and the Chairman Sri Dr P Narayana Garu, President, Narayana Educational Society, who presided over the function. All Principles and HODs blessed the students. It was followed by cultural events.
