She developed, implemented and evaluated a curriculum on CHN, MCH and family planning. Ms Venketaraman trained 86 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) and innovated several devices for ready use of nurses including AV Aids for MCH Care, besides developing a Nurses-run clinic. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ms Venketaraman has written 9 books on Nursing. Recipient of President of India Gold Medal in1976, Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puraskar (by the International Institute of Education), Renuka Mukherjee Somasekhar Award (for best teacher) and Florence Nightingale Award. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="554.jpg" width="175" height="184"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Smt. Annapurna Tiwari </strong><br> Smt Tiwari contributed significantly to the ODA Project for Slum Development besides her active participation in Indore Habitat Improvement Project workshop. <br> She popularised family planning measures among women (motivated 200 women for copper-T insertion). <br> She was awarded Certificate of Excellence by the Lions Club, Indore.</font></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="558.jpg" width="147" height="184"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Dr. (Mrs.) Bimla Kapoor</strong> An eminent academician & nursing administrator, Dr. Kapoor has been Secretary, TNAI Delhi branch for two terms. She also held various positions in standing committees of TNAI. </font></font></p></td> <td valign="top"><p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">She has been Chairperson of book writing project on Fundamentals of Nursing- A Procedure Manual. Dr Kapoor has been associated with organising/ serving as resource person in several workshops/ conferences of TNAI. She took training as Trainer, on HIV/AIDS (American Nurses Association).</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> She revived and activated the Delhi State branch and established Delhi State Nursing Council. She enrolled 500 members for TNAI (awarded Plaque twice for enrolling life members), initiated scholarships/awards at State level and raised funds for TNAI to meet the expenses of SNA/TNAI Conference. Dr Kapoor guided various research projects and theses in M. Phil, M.Sc and B.Sc. courses. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">A prolific author, she published (a) text book on Psychiatric Nursing - Vol. I, (b) two modules on Role of In-service and Pre-service of Nurses on Prevention, Care and Cure HIV/AIDS, (c) (in co-authorship) chapter I on Science and Technology, besides articles on Human Relations in Nursing, Ethical Dilemma in Nursing Practice, etc. She wrote course material for IGNOU for B.Sc. Students.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="556.jpg" width="156" height="189"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Mrs. Cheryl Susan Tada</strong> She has provided exemplary humanitarian services in the field of nursing and public health in Arunachal Pradesh. Recipient of Florence Nightingale Award, State Award and Best TB Workers Award, Ms. Tada is credited with establishing Nursing cell in the State. She initiated in-service programmes for the nurses and also framed service rules for the working nurses. </font></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="59.jpg" width="188" height="179"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Miss Durga J. Mehta</strong> Ms Mehta is a strict disciplinarian; her devotion to Gandhian values has won her high appreciation in the nursing community. She has been associated with MNC, INC and ICN in various positions. </font></font></p></td> <td valign="top"><p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ms. Mehta institute TJ Mehta scholarship for the nursing students. She was President, West Bengal State branch, Vice President, WB Nursing Council. She contributed articles for the print media. In academics, she was associated with various universities as Examiner, Paper setter, and Counseller.</font></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="553.jpg" width="189" height="184"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Mrs. Gopi J. Bhambani </strong>Considered as backbone of TNAI Bombay branch, Ms Bhambani is fondly called as a permanent Finance Minister of City branch. She established Nurses Bureau to provide one-to-one care to the patients. Mrs. Bhambani has done strong advocacy for well qualified nurses and fought against illegal Nursing Institutions and practices. Her active participation in TNAI National Conferences brought her Gold and Silver Medals and Plaques. Dr Kaur has organised several TNAI (biennial/ SNA biennial) Conferences, and revived non-functional Punjab branch. She had been instrumental in establishment of Directorate of Nursing in Punjab. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Through her painstaking efforts she could raise sizable funds for Punjab State Office. Recipient of Mother Teresa Award by Omni College, Canada, she established 4 SNA Units in various Schools/Colleges of Nursing and enrolled 1415 Life Members of TNAI. For promoting education, she established 5 TNAI Punjab State Branch Scholarships and Malhotra Scholarship for SNA/ TNAI students besides arranging Dumra Novel Trust Scholarship and Smt. She instituted many scholarships and Best Nurse award. She contributed much towards establishment of Nursing Council of Kerala besides organising several conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops and continuing education programmes. She had been instrumental in revival of PC B.Sc. and past-basic diploma course in nursing. Besides contributing to various professional journals, she has revised the syllabi of B.Sc., Post Basic B.Sc. nursing and M.Sc. nursing courses. </p> <p align="justify"><strong>Ms. Krishna Kumari Gulani</strong> Had been a very active member of various standing committees of TNAI. Author of a book, Community Health Nursing - Principles and Practices, she contributed two chapters on the project, History of Nursing, a TNAI publication. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">She organised mobile health services, domiciliary midwifery services in rural and urban settings, besides flood relief activities in Najafgarh Block, Delhi. Ms Gulani has guided several ANM/GNM/DNEA/B.Sc/ M.Sc and M.Phil students in addition to being a Research guide for many students. She also participated in revision of syllabus in INC and SEAR countries.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="n4.jpg" width="166" height="183"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Dr. (Mrs.) M. Dean</strong> Chairperson to various Standing Committees of TNAI Headquarters, she has held various positions at state and national level TNAI for over four decades. She is the driving force behind the projects of Central Institute of Nursing and Elderly Care Home. Her Contribution towards nursing education, service and research is commendable.</font></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> Recipient of several honours including florence nightingale Award 2007; Honorary Society award Sima Theta Tau, Indian, USA; International Council of Nurses-3M Award; Honorary Society award - Pi Lamda Theta, Indian, USA, she had been instrumental in intiating Masters of Science in MCH Nursing and Ph D. Malik</strong> Ms. Malik has been EC memebr at national level for 4 years and Secretary UP branch TNAI for two terms. Ms. Malik had been instrumental in establishment of new State (Uttarakhand) branch. Rane</strong> Former President of Goa state branch-TNAI, Ms Nilima has been chairperson, All Goa Women s Association. She enrolled 149 life members for TNAI. Recipient of Florence Nightingale Award 2008, Ms. Nilima has been very active in social life. She took much initiative in establishment of Goa Nursing Council. Ms. Nilima has been instrumental is getting justice to the aggrieved nursing personnel, and at the same time securing additional benefits to the nurses with higher qualifications at state level. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="n8.jpg" width="177" height="185"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Mrs. V. S. Patil</strong> Ms Patil, an active member in professional life, has been instrumental in formation of Directorate of Nursing as also in establishing / reviving many SNA Units. Honoured with Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Puraskar (by IIEM) and national award for writing best SNA Diary, Ms Patil got sanctioned two gold medals for GNM and B.Sc. students and has been guide to M.Sc. students. She organised, implemented and evaluated Step Ladder course and Supervisor course, besides revising syllabi of GNM and B.Sc. courses. (Mrs.) Phul Rani Sarmah (Retd.)</strong> Ms Sarmah is a very active member of TNAI. She has the distinction of being the first person to join Territorial Army unit. For her serving and treating wounded soldiers in Indo-Pak War, she was honoured with Territorial Army Decoration Award 1996 from Prime Minister of India. Prof. Ramachandran established 5 TNAI Units in Tamil Nadu State, organised, among others, four International Nurses Conferences, All India Rehabilitation Nursing Conference and two State Tamil Nadu Govt. Nurses Association conferences. Prof. Ramachandran has been recipient of (a) Nightingale s award at University of Wisconsin, USA and (b) Sigma Theta Tau International Award. He has been Examiner for GNM/B.Sc/ M.Sc and Ph.D students, besides being member of board of Studies in various universities. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="55.jpg" width="183" height="192"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Prof. (Mrs.) R. Thassu</strong> Prof. Thassu demonstrated her dynamism by establishing a branch at J&K in 1976-78. She also helped in raising Rs 2 lakh for International Women s Conference organised by TNAI, and again in securing advertisements for TNAI and INC souvenirs. She enrolled more than 400 members for TNAI. She held various positions in standing committees of TNAI HQs. Prof. Thassu was instrumental in validation of Medical Surgical Nursing Units in J&K. She established 3 Colleges of Nursing and 5 Schools of Nursing in Delhi and Punjab. Ms Chawla had been Superintendent of Examination of GNM & ANM and Inspector, Indian Nursing Council. </font></p> <p align="justify"><img src="54.jpg" width="187" height="191"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Dr. Sumathi Kumaraswami</strong> An eminent Nurse Educator and Administrator Dr. Sumathi has been associated with TNAI for more than two decades. Participated actively as keynote speaker in SNA Platinum Jubilee Conference. Established many SNA units at local level. Beside organising workshops and seminars, she participated in many international, national and state level conferences. She had been member of committees for formulation of syllabus for B.Sc. Nursing and paper setting. Author of several articles in professional journals, she was instrumental in introducing M.Sc. nursing programme. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="57.jpg" width="183" height="196"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Mrs. Narender K. Nagpal</strong> Former Secretary General of TNAI, after retirement, Mrs. Nagpal worked as Principal in College of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi. She was also Professor (Nursing) in Himalayan Institute (HIHT), Dehradun, Uttarakhand. During her tenure as Secretary-General at TNAI, she made significant contribution towards the Nursing association and profession. She particularly helped staff development in honing their skills in official work. She has attended many national and international meetings and conferences and conducted more than 20 National Conferences / Directed ICN-TNAI projects. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing. Recently she was honoured with Florence Nightingale Award by Wisconsin University, USA. </font></font></p></td> <td valign="top"><p align="justify"><img src="52.jpg" width="196" height="183"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Ms. Jaiwanti P. Dhaulta</strong> Before joining TNAI, she worked as Lecturer in nursing in SNDT University, Mumbai. As former Secretary-General and Chief Editor of NJI, TNAI (1996-2001), Ms. Dhaulta s contribution towards the nursing association is immense. She worked tirelessly for the welfare of nurse professionals in India. As Secretary, she organised and attended many national and international meetings and conferences. After her retirement she worked as a consultant in Indian Nursing Council (2002-2004) and also as project coordinator in Academy for Nursing Studies, funded by UNFPA. Recipient of Dr. Devi Chand Rolling Shield for the best Nurse of the year (1961-62), she is presently working as Consultant at Delhi Heart and Lung Institute, New Delhi</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="56.jpg" width="183" height="196"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Lt. Col. (Miss) Molly David</strong> Joined TNAI as Asst. Secretary in June 1991, after taking premature retirement from Military Nursing Service. During her tenure in TNAI she worked assiduously for the growth of the association. She contributed to the process of enhancement of the status of nursing profession. While in Military Nursing Service as Lt. Col., she served the army and the country with distinction during the trying days of the Chinese aggression (1962), the war with Pakistan (1965) and the war for liberation of Bangladesh (1971).</font></font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="550.jpg" width="187" height="187"><br> <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><strong>Mr. Iqbal Ahmed</strong> Joined TNAI before independence in 1946 and served the Association in various positions for more than four decades. His administrative skills and personnel handling skills were noteworthy. During his tenure at TNAI HQrs, he was hard working and known for his discipline and meticulous work.
