TNAI Felicitates National Florence Nightingale Awardees

After the presentation of President Awards, the awardees were invited to TNAI Headquarters later for get together. Around 75 people attended the function. Mrs. Sheila Seda, Secretary General, TNAI, briefed the programme. Sr. Gilbert, First Vice President, TNAI, welcomed the awardees, dignitaries, special invitees and guests. Dignitaries and special invitees lit the Florence Nightingale Lamp. Every awardee was given a chance to express her/his views on the achievement. A spirit of joviality and triumph pervaded the entire atmosphere. Mrs Om Kumari Kathuria, Returning Officer, TNAI and a senior nurse leader expressed a word of appreciation and the significance of the President Award.Further she said that there are numerous other nurses who had
been assiduously performing their duties, but due to lack of awareness and other reasons they could not get it. She also expressed her wish that the number of awards should be increased every year. Each awardee was felicitated by Mr AB Kulkarni, President, TNAI and Mrs Satish Chawla, Former President, TNAI. Shri Kulkarni said that the nurses have been contributing significantly towards the well being of the suffering, and asked them to continue putting in their vital services with renewed zeal. Mrs Chawla expressed, how continuous efforts and persuasions by TNAI with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and others, paved the
way for restarting of National Nurses Award in 2007, after a gap of 21 years. She especially thanked Mr T Dileep Kumar, Nursing Advisor to Government of India, for his endeavours to achieve the same. This programme was attended by the senior nurse leaders Miss KK Gulani, Former Treasurer, TNAI, Mrs Nanthini Subbiah, Deputy Secretary General, TNAI, Miss Bhargavi, Deputy Assistant Director General (Nursing), TNAI EC Members Mr Ibohal Singh, President, TNAI Manipur, State Branch, Mrs Sipra Das, President, TNAI, Tripura State Branch and TNAI Council Member Miss Gayatri Bandopadhyay, President, TNAI West Bengal Branch. Finally, the programme concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs Evelyn P Kannan, Assistant Secretary General, TNAI.
