Events at Institutions

Shanmuga College of Nursing, Salem (TN) : A workshop on Nursing Management was conducted on 20 January 2009 by the IV year B.Sc. Nursing students of 2005- 2009 batch in the Shanmuga auditorium. The theme ‘Application of the Principles in Quality Management’ was unfolded by Prof S Maragatham, Principal and Dr PS Paneerselvam, Chairman, delivered the presidential address. Later, the scientific sessions were conducted.

Mrs G Padmavathy and Mr. P Kamalakannan from the Dept of Business Administration of Vysya College of Arts and Science highlighted on ‘Accreditation’ and ‘Human Resources Management’ respectively. The events were graced by Mrs KS Pushpalatha, Lecturer who dealt on ‘Decision Making’, Mrs V Kavitha, Reader, dwelt on ‘Leadership Skills’ and The Principles of Management was dealt by Miss Archana L. A total of 140 staff and student nurse professionals attended the workshop. The distribution of certificates and presentation of memento was held during the valedictory session. The programme ended with the National Anthem.

Dhanvantri College of Nursing, Erode (Tamil Nadu) :
The VIII Lamp Lighting ceremony took place on 15 December 2008 wherein 41 B.Sc. (N) students of 2008 batch took the Florence Nightingale pledge. The Chief guest, Dr (Mrs) Alamelu Venkataraman, Dean, Omayal Achi College of Nursing, Chennai blessed the students and lit the traditional lamp. She highlighted the greatness of the multifaceted Lady with the lamp - Ms Florence Nightingale - and emphasised modernisation, application and sharing of knowledge for abrogating the negative thoughts.

Dr N Ganapathy, Chairman of the college, presided over the function. Principal Dr (Mrs) Sharadha Ramesh spoke on the significance of the lamp and presented the lamp to the students. Mrs Mohana, Asst Nursing Suptdt, Erode Govt Headquarters Hospital congratulated the students. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs Jayadeepa, Lecturer.
