Mr. NM Jose, Principal of the institute welcomed the gathering. Sri A Raghavendra Rao CA, President, A Shama Rao Foundation, Sri A Srinivas Rao Vice President, Smt D Shashikala Rao, Secretary, Dr Alam Nawaz resource person were the dignitaries. Dr Alam Nawaz, MD, Asst Professor, Kasturba Medical Centre and hospital, gave a presentation on Myocardial Infarction including pathogenesis and intervention. Mrs Kavitha P, Associate Professor delivered the vote of thanks.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="s3.gif" width="284" height="183"> <br> <strong>Sri Ramachandra School and College of Nursing, Sri Rama-chandra University (SRU), Chennai :</strong> Lamp lighting and graduation ceremony was held on 25 November 2008. The dignitaries on the dias lighted the kuthuvillakku. Prof PV Ramachandran, Chairman, Nsg Education, SRU welcomed the gathering. Mrs A Porkodi, Reader, Sri Ramachandra College of Nursing (SRCON) highlighted the significance of lamp lighting. Prof Ramachandran lighted the Forence Nightingale lamp, after which the first year nursing students were presented the lamps. 60 Diploma in Nursing and 95 B.Sc.(N) students dedicated and recited the Nightingale s pledge along with Prof Dr Rajeswari Vaidyanathan, Principal, SRCON. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The annual report of school and college was presented by Mrs Rani Ramachandran, Principal and Prof S Santhi, SRCON respectively. The chief guest Mrs Josephine R Little Flower, Registrar, Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council invited the young tender partners to this profession and emphasised to ascertain 4  A s in their lives, i.e. Ambition, Aim for the highest, Assertiveness and Accomplishment. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Prof Dr S Rangaswami, Vice Chancellor, SRU enlightened that Nursing is an empowered profession. He said, team work always shines and brings laurels to the profession. Mrs Josephine R Little Flower, Registrar, Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Prof Dr S Rangaswami, Vice Chancellor and Dr KV Somasundaram, Dean of Faculties, SRU distributed the certificates and prizes to the students.</font></p></td> <td width="50%"><p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="s2.gif" width="287" height="178"><br> <strong>PPG College of Nursing, Coimbatore (TN):</strong> A workshop on assisted reproductive technique was organised on 20 January 2009. About 250 students and staff from all over India participated. The workshop sought to spread the awareness regarding the increase in number of infertility and the recently available assisted reproductive techniques (ART) among the nursing personnel. The resource persons were Dr Muthukumar, Dr Umabharathi and team from SISU Hospital, Salem, Dr Babu Rani (Sri Ganesh Fertility Centre) Coimbatore, Dr Chandra Kala (Vamsam Hospital) Coimbatore, Dr Aarthipaari (Manu Clinic), Coimbatore. </font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">The presidential address was given by the chairman of PPG group of institutions, Dr LP Thangavelu and chief guest address by Mrs Josephine Little Flower, Registrar of Tamil Nadu Nurses & Midwives Council. Dr Muthukumar and Dr Babu Rani gave the keynote address. The resource persons were honoured by the management. Various sessions of the workshop covered basics of infertility, ART, demonstration of checking sperm count and instruments used in ART, alerts and cautions of reproductive testing, legal issues and bills in infertility and problems faced by infertile couples. The workshop ended with the valedictory function when all the certificates for all participants of the workshop were given.</font></p> <p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="s4.gif" width="279" height="168"><br> <strong>Symbiosis College of Nursing (SCON), Pune : </strong>Lamp lighting ceremony of the First batch of Basic B.Sc. Nursing students was held on 24 November 2008 at Symbiosis Pune campus. Padmashree Dr SB Majumdar, President and Founder Director, Symbiosis and Chancellor, Symbiosis International University (SIU) inaugurated the function and addressed the students. The guest of honour was Brig. Meenakshi Padmini, Deputy Director, Military Nursing Services (HQ), Southern Command. Dr (Mrs) Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal-Director, Symbiosis and Dr Rajiv Yeravdekar, Director, Symbiosis Centre of Health Care and Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, addressed the students at the function. The light was passed on to the students by Prof. SG Joshi, Vice-Principal, SCON and Mrs. Sheela Upendra, Asst. Professor, SCON. The Nightingale s Pledge was administered by Ms Shital Waghmare, Programme Coordinator.
