Women’s
Health and Development
The
wealth of nations depends on the health of women for many
reasons. Women burdened with ill health will not be able to
function as sole or primary care providers for their children,
spouses, parents and the elderly unless they are educated about
their basic human right to health and development.
Because
of their vulnerability, stemming from the physical environment
in which they live and work, lack of knowledge and information,
low income earning capacity and purchasing power, and other
socio-economic factors, specifically related to gender, they
are not able to make use of their right to health and development.
It
has been evident that the education and liberation of women
is the only way to solve most of the issue contributing to their
ill health and lack of development.
