XXIII SNA Biennial Conference, Kolkata : Countdown

Dear friends,

We have about a month and half for our XXIII SNA Biennial Conference to be held at Kolkata during 27-31 October 2009.

I am sure that our young and enthusiastic students along with our senior TNAI members are getting ready to come to Kolkata. Before we start our journey to that city, let us make sure that our preparation for attending the conference is complete so that the trip to Kolkata is an enjoyable and memorable one.

Registration: The last date for registration is 15 September 2009 after which late registration fee will be charged as mentioned in the registration form. It is assumed that the participants have registered by now. It may kindly be noted that the registration fee is not refundable. In case of cancellation, only boarding and lodging charges are refundable (75% if one month in advance, 50% if 15 days in advance and no refund thereafter). It is highly appreciable if the delegates register themselves well in advance. It will help the organisers to coordinate their work without any hassle. In case of requirement of registration form, kindly refer the outer back cover of August 2009 issue of the Nursing Journal of India.

Accommodation: The SNA delegates will be accommodated in the students hostels of School and College of Nursing. Accommodation for executive and council members of TNAI has been arranged in different guest rooms.

The delegates would receive information about their stay on reporting at the registration / reception counters at the venue or at the railway station, airport. Accommodation would be provided to those delegates who have remitted their registration form and full fee in advance. Delegates are requested to kindly contact Ms. Bandana Das, Chairperson, Accommodation Committee (Phone No. 09433403247) if they need any help in this regard.

Transportation: Kolkata is well connected by air, road and railways. Once the delegates reach Kolkata, they would be received by the members of the transport and reception committee at the respective terminal as mentioned in the registration form. In case of late arrival at night/early morning, the delegates are requested to remain near the first class waiting room and to contact the committee members. In case of any emergency, or difficulty please contact Ms. Bandana Das, Chairperson, Transportation Committee (Phone No. 09433403247).

Registration for Competitions: The registration forms for various competitions and exhibition have been published in August 2009 (page 192, 193) issue of the Nursing Journal of India. The State SNA Advisors and the contestants are requested to follow the instructions carefully. Please make sure that each form is certified by the State SNA Advisor or a person officiating in her/his place. Putting up of poster exhibition will start on 28 October 2009 from 8.00 am. The venue for putting up of poster will be informed at the registration counter. The contestants are requested to ensure that they complete necessary formalities to put up their poster exhibit beforehand.

Roll Call and Purse Money: Roll call and the presenting of purses would be held on 29 October 2009 immediately after conclusion of the inaugural session. It is our earnest appeal to individuals, institutions and branches to contribute generously to your Association’s forthcoming projects such as Central Institute of Nursing and Elderly Care Home. There is no doubt that every small mite contributed involves some personal sacrifice and the spirit of giving on the part of the donor to financially support the TNAI.

Safety and Security: Please protect yourselves and your group from security risks. Respective SNA Advisors accompanying the SNA members should be responsible to take care of their groups. Please avoid late night outings. In case of any help, the conference organisers may be contacted.

Information about Kolkata, its places of tourist interest has appeared in the August issue of Nursing Journal of India. You are advised to carry the essential requirements such as pillow, bed sheets and mosquito repellents to have a good night’s sleep. Please do not forget to carry a first aid kit.

Return Journey: It is hoped that you have booked your return journey tickets along with your onward journey, well in advance.

Your kind cooperation in early registration and timely arrival for all the sessions would help you to obtain maximum professional gain and personal satisfaction. We eagerly look forward to meeting one and all.
