TNAI South Zone, Kollam (Kerala) :
TNAI, South Zone in collaboration with Bishop Benziger College of Nursing conducted a Continuous Nursing Education Programme on ‘New Born Care’ at Bishop Benziger Hospital Auditorium on 20 May 2009. Rev Msgr Ferdinand Peter (Director - BBCON & BBH) inaugurated the programme. Vinayaka Mission’s Annapoorana College of Nursing, Salem (TN) :
The Nurses Week was celebrated during 12 to16 May 2009. The photo of Florence Nightingale was garlanded by Mrs Soundram, Nursing Superintendent, followed by speech of Dr Andappan, Advisor, Dr P Anusuya, Medical Director of Vinayaka Missions University. A quiz competition on nursing was conducted for the students on 15 May, and winners were awarded. The students also conducted a seminar on the theme - Delivering Quality, Serving communities, Nurses Leading Care Innovations.

Shri Baba Mastnath Institute of Nursing SB MIN, Rohtak (Haryana):
Under the leadership of Mrs Sheela Hooda, Principal, the programme was inaugurated by Dr Markanday Ahuja, Director of Mastnath Group of Institutes and Dr Anju Ahuja, President of centres of excellence. A talk on ‘Delivering Quality, serving communities : Nurses leading care innovations’ was delivered. Students holding distinction in GNM were honoured.

St Ann’s College of Nursing, Mangalore (Karnataka):
The National Conference on Paradigm Shift in Nursing Education - Education of the Heart with Highlights on Action Research was held during 19-21 February 2009 in Mangalore. The Conference, attended by 230 representatives from Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, was inaugurated by Dr S Ramananda Shetty, Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University. Prof Selva Titus Chacko, CMCH Vellore unfolded the theme and exhorted the nursing fraternity to recapture the lost values of Nursing. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion and made presentations on various aspects of nursing education were: Sr Lucy Rodrigues, Principal, St Ann’s College; Shri Eric C Lobo, Chairman, Lobo Teachers Foundation; Prof Marie Pinto, Organising Secretary; Adele Korah, SCCG; Irene D’Silva SCCG; Anita Pinto SCCG; Dr Reddama, NIMHANS, Dr Rathna Parakash; Dr Ciraj, Dr Barathi & Dr Vinod of Manipal University and others. The Conference had interactive sessions on action research in various issues related to nursing including mental health nursing, medical surgical nursing, paediatric nursing, etc.

NSS Unit Inauguration :
The NSS unit was inaugurated in Narayana College of Nursing on 11 July last year by chief guest Dr ML Naidu, NSS Coordinator, Dr NTR UHS, Vajayawada, Mrs Indira S, Principal, Narayana Nursing institutions (special guest), Dr JN Rao, Medical Superintendent. Faculties and students actively participated in activities organised under the supervision of Mr G Srinivasan, Vice Principal, Narayana College of Nursing.
