Working Together for a
Healthier Tomorrow
The global shortage of
health workers is currently estimated at 4.25
million according to the World Health Report. There
is a general lack of adequate staffing in rural
areas as compared to cities. At the same time,
working conditions in developing countries are
becoming increasingly intolerable. These problems
adversely effect and threaten macro efforts to
achieve millennium development goals.
Health Systems all over
the world are facing an arduous task in training and
retaining their health care workers. With an aging
population and chronic conditions, there is an ever
increasing demand for a skilled and readily
available work force. To this end, the theme for
this year’s World Health Day. ‘Working Together
for Health’, highlights the challenging and
often inspiring work carried out by health care
workers.
TNAI has endeavored to
network with like-minded organizations with similar
aims and objectives. We have been participating in
various activities in bringing the health work force
together for efficient and effective health care
delivery.
On the occasion of
National Safe Motherhood Day on April 11,2006, TNAI
under its programme of Continuing Education is
organizing a workshop on Safe Motherhood from April
3 to 7, 2006 in collaboration with Common wealth
Secretariat, London. Heads of TNAI Branches from all
over the country will update and deliberate on
issues pertaining to Mother and Child health care
services thereby ensuring Skilled
Attendance at Delivery.
